I'm new to the Persona series. I've only played P3P

The number of differences between P3 and P4 were pretty massive, but the number of differences between P4 and P3P are not nearly as high.

Lessee..
It's slightly more character driven.
It's a LOT more upbeat.
It slaps you with your biggest objective waaay before P3 even began to tease at it.
Personas no longer cough up loot for you, they're just... there.
GLASSES!

That's all I can think of, at the moment. It's been ages since I played P3, so take what I say with a grain of salt. :3

EDIT: Also it occurs to me this probably should have gone in the old P4 board. C'est la vie, no harm done.

The differences between P3 and P4 is that 3 is blue and 4 is yellow...

but seriously
They are pretty much the same game with very small changes and different stories.
I love P3 because it came first and everything was new.
I love P4 because of the story.

Also, P3P is VERY different from Persona 3 and 4. Mainly, you can actually walk around, and there are actual cutscenes.

Look for gameplay vids on youtube

Doing something wrong? You can walk around in Persona 3 AND 4 no?
And yeah Persona 3 is very dark and gloomy, death is all around... literally, don't stay in a dungeon too long... while Persona 4 is a lot more upbeat with a mysterious tone over it, there's consistently renewed hope and friendship.

I honestly think people are exaggerating over how 'dark and gloomy' P3 is. Really, it's not that bad. 'Not as upbeat as P4' would've been a better way to put it. Wanna see dark and gloomy? Here

From some of the music, the characters and setting, this games already takes the cake in the 'very gloomy' category,

Still hoping for a sequel. Make it happen, Tri-Ace.

Persona 4, in comparison, is so blatantly upbeat most of the time that most people who don't know about it will probably say you're crazy when you show them pictures and say that it's a game about murder.

Never refer to me by the letters in my username. It's an account name I had during my early school days that stuck. It does not sound too good when pronounced.

Persona 3 : summons persona using guns pointed to the head and pull the trigger

Persona 4 : summons persona using random moves like punching kicking or crushing arcana cards
