When a monster spots you, the icon on the bottom right should change. Touch it to activate it.

While that icon is activated, whenever you press (NOT HOLD) "L", it will make the camera face the monster you selected to target.

no need to freak out NightsOwl, I was actually looking up the answer for TC right after posting that (however looks like another poster beat me to it). it's simply hilarious IMO, considering MH has never had lock-on until this Game

all in all, while my comment was quite trolly I do have good intentions :)

the lock on feature doesn't exactly "Lock On" it just simply adjusts your camera so that you're facing the monster, also it is not constant (holding L will do nothing) you need to tap L every so often to refocus the camera
