Fire Emblem: Awakening

Should I play any other FE game before I get this?

I haven't played a fire emblem game before and I was wondering if I'd miss anything story wise if I went straight for this.

You don't need to play any other FE game to enjoy this one, as this game is set 2000 years after Shadow Dragon. Though if you want to get acquainted with how an FE game typically plays I'd recommend Shadow Dragon or Sacred Stones, those are easy to get into.

Shadow Dragon is the most relevant one story-wise, but Sacred Stones is the closest gameplay-wise. Both are definitely worth playing, but they aren't at all necessary.

Get the one for GBA, called Fire Emblem. It features a tutorial that lasts about 10 chapters

if you don't see it on the list, it's not worth playing, for it is not a real Fire Emblem

I'd personally recommend either Shadow Dragon or Blazing Sword as your first, but that's just an opinion. Another opinion, try not to start with Sword of Seals, it can be pretty unrelenting at some points

Sacred Stones or Path of Radiance. Ignore Endgame, he has no idea what he is talking about.
