Would you support a chubby playable character in Fire Emblem?

I'd say Eddie is difficulty-dependent. On Easy he's even better than Nolan but the further you crank up the difficulty the more useless he gets.

What about Edward? He is arguably the strongest swordmaster in the game.

He's far from it. He comes in third after Mia and Zihark.

He starts to low then you get Zihark 5 chapters later does everything Edward wishes he could do only better.

Not according to serenes.

On average, Edward is better than both Zihark and Mia.

I still don't understand the Meg hate. Sure, she isn't your conventional knight/general, and you need to baby her a little, but she's still a great unit.

Babying and great unit don't belong in the same sentence.

Minimal effort is needed to get Meg's level up to around the same as the rest of the Dawn Brigade at that point in the game. After that, she's able to hold her own.

It doesn't matter everyone just looks at as wasting exp that can go to Volug, Nolan, and Zihark. Who already one round everything you don't need her she just slows you down.

Zihark's already promoted, whereas many other units in Part I aren't. I only used Volug as a meat shield for Micaiah, since I didn't really like the laguz, and I focused on Nolan along with Meg on my latest playthrough. I'm not saying the three characters you listed aren't good units in their own right, I just feel like training Meg isn't as difficult as everyone makes it out to be. Besides, as another poster said, watching a small chubby girl in a suit of pink armor activate Luna on a dragon three times her size is pretty hilarious.

I have to agree easy He's great.

Normal still pretty solid.

But anything past that he's just a waste.

yea only after you baby him and dump buttloads of BEXP on him that is better used elsewhere

the other swordmasters are useful and ready to decimate right off the bat... if you plan on playing on anything higher than easy edward is pretty terrible early on

Stats Don't = Best unit

If this were true the loin king would be the greatest.

Babying is difficult when all but a handful of the other units need to be babied, you can't dodge the broad side of a barn, your damage sucks and you don't have enough EXP to go around anyway. Edward, Ilyana, Leo and Meg are terrible units. This isn't like a Florina where she can double and grab a kill here and there and your team will be better for it, it's more like Wendy where you can't get enough EXP, you live in constant fear of being killed and even if you are able to get to promotion you're unneeded since there are better characters that fulfill the same role.

It's not really that it's difficult it's just pointless.

Why squander potential battle exp on a pre-promoted unit when I could earn twice as much per kill by letting a weaker unit fight instead? And yes, the unit with the best stats is the best unit. That's how it works.
