Munchkinator posted... Games evolve. Yes, a large part of FE for many of its games has been permadeath - but there have been FE games that allowed you to rez people, and let's be honest here a lot of us just reset the chapter and played through again to make sure no one ever died anyways. Casual is for people who care about character death and don't feel like restarting the chapter - though they might still want to; no more XP that battle can be annoying if you were trying to train that specific unit - and people who want a more classic experience can play, well, Classic. Just wait, re4 "evolved" the series, it was a more casual game but hey there was professional for the other fans. Now resident evil 5 and 6 are out and are utter trash and a disgrace to the franchise. Causal mode requires no skill, it is just dumbing down the game, and pretty soon when the idiot, instant gratification don't make me think generation enjoys the game in its mind numbingly easy form, the series will shift to cater to more sales. Even the Souls series is going more casual as it has turned into a juicy series, immediately there are two new corporate directors replacing the real mastermind behind demon and dark souls. Just wait, this is the beginning of the end.
Personally I think the evolution actually started with Resident Evil 3. Quick turn, a somewhat clunky dodge mechanic, and the ability to create your own ammunition. You could kill the Nemesis every time without hax new game plus weapons. I know because I did it. Since you didn't like Resident Evil 5 or 6 you've gained the ability to see the future! What else can you tell me? --- This is what RPG's are about! Killing people and taking their cool stuff!
I like Casual mode, it enables the less skilled players to play the game. I always will play classic, but I love games giving us options. They are no changing our experience they are adding to the game so others can enjoy. This is a win win for all of us, we get the game with classic mode and sales go up, increasing our chancing of getting the next game. Anyone who complains is a whiny little baby. That's like complaining a restaurant added another meal to their menu so more people can eat there. Its stupid, stop complaining about options, as long as your play style is there still we all win. Share in the fun and stop trolling your greedy hate around.

WestbrickIII posted... NovaWingz posted...MarthMoopa posted...The problem with casual mode is that it provides no alternative penalty for getting killed. Units killed on Casual should gain a "wounded" status, preventing them from joining the next chapter. Having absolutely no penalty whatsoever is ridiculous. None of that would affect my enjoyment of the game in any way. I don't care how other people play the game, because I'm not a %#$@!*& idiot. --- "It was really great, stealing zombie Jesus's legendary Horse Wiener."
This is one of the more peculiar things for people to be up in arms over, and it's generated over 9 (20 posts per) pages, with the last page not saying anything really different from the first. My sister is terrible at FE while I'm pretty good (playing the series since I was 12 doesn't hurt), but she loves the series, too. Casual lets her play without being too frustrated (she'll stop playing for weeks if she can't beat a mission without losing anyone). Me? I get hard mode with classic my first time through, a legitimate FE experience, and get to look forward to Lunatic or even greater my second and third run. Both of us get to play; her with her handicaps, and me with no safety nets and enemies that are just as strong or stronger than my units. Win-win. I feel like all of this anti-casual crap comes from a sense of elitism. "Hey, look at me! I'm Awesome! I play on Lunatic with permadeath and still beat the game in five tuns! Derp derp! What? 'Casuals' can play MY FE easy without permadeath? THIS WILL NOT STAND!" --- "Only good thing about Sephy was his music; Only thing he ever did was throw his mom at you and stab a flowergirl." - BattleJesus
I like the restaurant comparison.
Yeah, the developers sure were stupid when they thought of Classic Mode. It's not as if the series needed extra attention in other countries besides Japan to justify localizing them. Nintendo should just keep translating the games for a small group of whiny elitists who think they're hardcore for putting up with an obnoxious mechanic. --- - Swap God for a janitor, rot in a jar of dog paws - Put a pinch of sage in your boots, and all day long a spicy scent is your reward.

Some people like chicken on the bone, some prefer it boneless. Some don't like a lot of cheese on their pizza, some do. Some don't put toppings on their pizza, some put lots of toppings on their pizza. Some boys like boys, some girls like girls. Some want something easy, some want something challenging. Everybody wins in some aspect, why make it a battle over this or that when it has something in it that everyone can enjoy regardless. --- For the night is dark and full of terrors....... |
