Wow @ this thread....

Agreed. You people are truly terrible and suck all the fun out of a discussion board about this game.

So let me get this straight, if a reviewers gives critical acclaim to a game you like, this is a bad thing?

^The review itself hardly goes over the gameplay, which is bad.

I think her paragraph of:

Awakening’s general gameplay model will look familiar to anyone who’s ever tried their hand at a tactical RPG. Much like a game of chess, the joy in this sort of experience comes largely from strategizing. You’ll have to figure out exactly how to position each unit, who to take into battle, and which weapons and skills to equip. You'll need to think 10 steps ahead and push yourself to devise new tactics to take your opponent off guard. It’s a slow and satisfying progression, one that builds and builds as battles evolve and new mechanics are introduced.

Pretty much covers it. It's an SRPG and people know how SRPGs play. There is no reason to get too in depth about basic knowledge that almost everyone reading that review should already knows.

With regard to gameplay, her video review is more insightful:

Wow @ this thread....

Don't you guys LIKE the game? Why is this not good news? It's absolutely hilarious to me that people refuse to like IGN no matter what score they put out.

High score? "They were OBVIOUSLY paid"

Low score? "Lol IGN is such a joke, this game is amazing"

They literally can't win to you guys.

Just because it's a good score doesn't mean we can't call out a garbage site like IGN and their paid reviews. Obviously it's good for the game, but **** that site. Also Audrey is a huge Nintendo fangirl.

I'm glad that a fanbase actually noticed when someone made a terribly written review regardless of the score. It's the content in the review that counts. A review with a positive outlook on a game/book/whatever can still be a shoddy one.

yup.

You can't assume that.

So should FPS reviews go in detail about pointing and shooting? Because you can't assume that people know how to do that either.

The difference here is there are many types of SRPG game mechanics and even basic movement is different. Where as in FPS (First Person Perspective) there is only one way to move and aim. Unless you change the controls to Southpaw.

If you jam on every face button you will figure out the controls (FPS). Even in skyrim you could figure out the action controls.

In a SRPG....you will lose half of your crew trying that.

It's a review not a tutorial. It doesn't exist to teach you how to play the game, it exists to tell you if the reviewer enjoyed the game or not.
