Donnel is THAT character.

caps are what matter in this game, not growth rates

This is so incredibly false that it should count as malpractice.

That claims about caps mattering are bunk. in Hard or Normal they aren't even required except for the final DLC because the Spotpass Gaidens don't have enemies reaching a point where Donny's slightly lower stat caps is an issue for the player.

It's mostly the same in Lunatic and Lunatic+ character caps and more specifically cap differences make a difference in two situations, how fast you can beat the final boss and performance the final, hardest DLC and even then that's removed by the existence of the Limit Breaker DLC since with that any one is usable in that chapter.

Remember there's the whole game before cap differences become relevant. If you can get Donny can get past his incredibly rocky start he's mostly unmatched for the main game.

And then you realise his cap mods are balls and he'll be gimping his kids badly

Why are you all so hung up on growths, growths, growths?

Because in the older games where you could not gain infinite exp and level indefinitely, there was only a small chance of maxing out stats and actually reaching those caps, so it all ended up depending on growth rates.

You get the option to skip the tutorial stuff, so you'll start right at the balls. - Jabodie

This.

Look guys, I understand a lot of people here are stat miners who try to max out everything they can. That's cool. Grinding is definitely a way to play, albeit a rather boring way.

The problem with seeing characters in terms of their stat caps, however, is that for the majority of the game, you're not actually going be at stat caps, which means in the long run, growth plays an important role, which is something that Donnel and his offspring will have.

Are stat caps based on a character's original class rather than a class they switch to?

Character's caps are a personal modifier + caps of current class.
Donnel's suck. He's got negative caps in nearly everything.

Do you actually play the game or just make spreadsheets about it?
