For some of us, some units are too important or likable to lose without resetting the stage, while for others, we'll bow our heads in reference but keeping marching on.

I feel like this defeats the purpose of Classic mode.

All of the Elite Classic defenders scoff at Casuals because "You don't feel the PAIN of losing someone you LOVE!!" but then it's like "Oh, I just lost that loser? Meh."

The game either needs to auto-save after each death to prevent playing favorites and being able to restart, or you might as well just play Casual.

There's nothing preventing you from just not using a "dead" character in Casual mode anyway just like there's nothing to prevent Hard/Lunatic mode players from grinding their way past trivial difficulty scaling.

This is so true, lmao. Hating on casual and then proceeding to restart every time a person dies, all they're doing is speaking hypocritically and showing that they have nothing better to do.

I don't hate on casual players. Let 'em play how they want. I just like having every single possible person I can get alive at the end, but enjoy the risk of death.

It's not the outcome that matters (every alive), it's how that outcome is achieved (one is automatically granted to you, one you have to deciding between letting go, or re-planning your strategy).

On Classic, one false move means you might have to replay the whole thing, if "perfection" is what you're after. On Casual, everyone's alive no matter how good or terrible your strategy is.
How is that "the same"? Even a noob like me sees the difference, how can some veterans not?

That said, who cares if anyone wants to play on Casual? The developer added it in so more people can enjoy the series, I think it was a smart move.
I'm completely new to the strategy genre, even though I ended up playing on Classic, I wouldn't have picked up the game if Casual wasn't available. Permadeath sounded too intimidating to a new-comer like myself.
I only chose Classic because I wanted to understand what made the series so popular.

Stupid argument aside, I got Stahl killed when I first met him, that was like... Chapter 2, haha. Rushed into the middle of the enemies single handed, yup, brilliant move.
I was much better during the second attempt. From there on, I was super careful, took all the time I needed, haven't lost anyone since... but I'm sure that will end soon :P
