| From my understanding of everything I read, the key to class changing and promoting is just to learn the skill you want, then change or promote your class (going against the conventional wisdom of wait till max level then promote). Is this the general consensus?

| Yes, My MU is basically Tactician 10 -> Pegasus Knight 10 -> Dark Flier 15 -> Assassin 10 -> Swordmaster 10 -> Dark Knight 20(15 -> Grandmaster 20) with skills of Gale Force Lethality Astra Lifetaker and Ignis

| If you're playing Lunatic or maybe even Hard, you might want to use Master Seals at level 20 but then use Change Seals at whatever the level it is to get your desired skill. |
| Depending on how you measure "efficiency" you may want to level a character to level 20 in an unpromoted class (that has a promotion) before using a Master Seal on them. The cumulative level is only updated when Second Seals are used not Master Seals, and the internal level is identical whether you go to 10 or above it and then use a Master Seal.
So you'll get dinged as if you had levelled it up to 20 anyway, after you promote, so in game terms its essentially free stats. On the other hand this consumes your own personal real life time to do this.
On the other hand there's no reason at all to level classes that don't have a promotion past the last even level after their last skill though, unless its the final class or you're deliberately grinding for stats the class has high caps in.
(The cumulative level is updated by (Internal Level - 1)/2 rounded down, so using a second seal at level 15 and 16 both yeild the same 7 level adjustment). |
| From what I understand, once you hit your max amount of 'stored levels', it doesn't matter what you do, because your EXP rate will level out. --- "And you see where that can lead you, into what mistakes and absurdities, when you are dealing with a man like Arsene Lupin." |
| Yep. But even on normal that won''t happen until you (at least) use your 2nd Second Seal, a second seal from a level 20 promoted class, only adds 19 to your cumulative level (of a cap of 20). You can cap out on on the 2nd Second Seal on Hard As well (and probably will) , Lunatic moves it to the 3rd. |
| Well, on normal, if the cap is 20, then it happens once you max out 2 classes.
Or, rather, you get progressively less EXP per enemy for each additional level up to your 40th total level, and then it stays constant (on normal). --- "And you see where that can lead you, into what mistakes and absurdities, when you are dealing with a man like Arsene Lupin." |
