What happens if you save during an un-winnable battle?

What if you save right before losing a battle? There's no option on the battle menu to leave the fight or abort it. Is your save slot screwed or is there a way to get back to the map?

The save slot can never be used in battle, only bookmarks. So when you reload you should be reloading to either the world map or the prep screen where you can just quit from there. Unless this is Casual you're playing. Not sure if it's any different there.

Yeah I'm on casual, and you can save during battle.

I'd highly recommend keeping a second save file from before the mission starts.

I'm playing on classic so I can't confirm it but my guess would be that you would be out of luck. There isn't a restart mission feature as far as I know.

When you save mid-battle, it goes to a separate save slot then the initial 3 you have.

Therefore if you get stuck in a battle, you have to load your save from the initial 3 which is presumably right before the battle began.

Xenoblade is the spiritual successor of FF12.
999 and Zero Escape both deserve are Visual Novels to DIE for.

Or just get Chrom killed so you get a Game Over.

How do you load the "first save" instead of the "second save"?

I think it is the L or R button on the load screen,
I know it says at the top right of the screen.
