The sticky didn't seem to be too clear on this. I know the father passed the fifth skill on but what if you don't have five? Does he pass nothing or possibly just the last skill?

If he does not have 5 skills, the last one is passed on.

Parents pass on their last-equipped skill, whether it's the first, second, or fifth, if it's the last of their equipped skills it gets passed.

I don't know why other sites I've been on say only the fifth skills are passed on when it's simply the last one equipped.

Just posting to confirm that both of these posters are right.

The amount of skills doesn't matter, it's just whatever is last on the list. Also, Chrom will always pass Aether to females and Rightful King to males (even if he doesn't have these skills).

I wasted so much time grinding to get 5 skills on Chrom and Sumia before Lucina was born, and then got tired and just progressed with the story and find that they didn't even need 5 skills to pass any on (excluding those that Chrom passes on no matter what).

I was irritated.

Lucina has access to every useful skill her mother has (except Luck +4 from Olvia and Olivia starts with that) through class changes anyway, and Crom's pass downs are fixed by gender, so Lucina is pretty much completely safe from being screwed up short of marrying Crom to the generic village girl (or Sully to a lesser extent since she lacks Pegaus Knight).
