I really feel like this series was meant to be experienced in Japanese. However, with later entries in the series most people are just playing them in English. This greatly takes away from that original fuzzy feeling that you got playing the original Fire Emblem, where you didn't understand a word of what anyone was saying but still enjoyed it. The characters are all clearly meant to be Japanese, and it almost feels like cheating to play the English version since normaly I wouldn't be able to understand what was going on. English totally ruins the immersion.
Unfortunately, there won't be any new true Fire Emblem fans because they will never play the game without understanding what is being said, they'll just cheat and play the English version.
I hate knowing what's going on too. I also prefer to be completely ignorant of just about everything that's happening. Mostly because I'm too stupid to follow simple plots anyway, so just watching movement and colors is about all that I can do.
