Reps don't talk to low level employees at the local Gamestop. They talk to the people at the head offices.

This isn't entirely true. My ex-girlfriend worked at a EBGames that, on occasion, hosted a "Sony party" for the employees of all EBGames outlets in the province -- a Sony rep was the one responsible for it all, bringing in a bunch of Sony paraphernalia to get the employees familiar with (stuff like Playstation Move; new releases, etc.).

Reps showing up to local Gamestops are a great way to "entice" employees to spread good cheer about their company's goods through word of mouth.

Basically its he said she said thing with little to no evidence to back it up

And I said, you could choose to believe it or not. I did not claim this message to be fact. Just thought it was interesting that a nintendo rep would say this.

If it isnt in stock anymore how come I found the game online @ Gamestop.com the game no longer says Backordered.

So I am getting the Physical copy from @ Gamestop.com not at my local store they usual dont have squat anyways.

Put the money on a Card get it @ Gamestop.com promblem solve however how many copies they have in stock is also a promblem meaning they may not have that many back in stock @ Gamestop.com.

Meaning 1 minute it is there the next day it will not be in stock & back on Backordered again.

Like I said I am not getting my 3DS until April but I am buying the game This March from @ Gamestop.com using my card then I will just keep the game in my drawer until I get my 3DS System in April for my B-Day.

This Ninendo rep dosent seem to know what he/she was talking about I have seen the game back in stock @ a few online stores.

This story has two issues with it.

One, if this game needed a special chip to maintain a good framerate, wouldn't the downloadable version have a terrible framerate?

Two, how do we know you aren't lying? We haven't heard of any other GameStops having a visit from a rep to explain the reason for the shortage, and why would just this one GameStop get a visit?

Even though it seems like frame rate is an issue, (though I've had no problems on my end) it sounds like their just trying to make an excuse to cover up their lack of launch preparation. Discontinuation certainly should not be the answer.

why would they lack to prepare a game for launch when theres a bundle comming with it they should have guessed there would be a high demand for it...

The rep was Arnold looking for Terminator chips.
Your GF was lucky her name wasn't Sarah Connor.

If this is true, I have one question, why the hell didn't they prepare for making copies early if they knew it took three weeks? They would have knew this with the Japanese version (assuming it used the chip too) and unless they ran out of time translating, it doesn't make any sense. I'm going by TC's word on this, but still.

Why would a Nintendo rep visit a Gamestop to specifically tell them that one game of theirs isn't in stock (despite being in stock other places) because of [technical reason they shouldn't even have to explain]? They wouldn't.

If they were to even contact individual Gamestops about this, which is just silly to even consider, they wouldn't do it in person, and they wouldn't have any reason to go into detail about a technical issue, especially regarding some "frame rate improving chip" in the cartridges. Additionally, if such a chip did exist, then there would be noticeable differences between the Physical version and Digital version--so noticeable that people who have both versions would be have mentioned by now.

Even if you were told this by someone else, TC, you should have at least been able to see why it's too ridiculous to have actually happened. Might as well bury this thread.

I agree that this makes zero sense. If there was a known issue with the chip, they would've already either fixed it and continued production or been in the process of fixing it. And that's not even including the fact that a large number of sales are digital copies. So...what about them? Did they make a digital manufacturing error, too, somehow? They wouldn't discontinue a brand new title less than a month in because of a manufacturing error. Especially not one that's in such ridiculously high demand and making such a ridiculous amount of money for them. That factor alone is asinine and enough to throw this rumor out.

Aside from that, while I'm sure reps visit Gamestops on rare occasion, I highly doubt a Nintendo rep would visit a branch store to say, "Hey guys, there's a manufacturing error with Fire Emblem, so it's going to be discontinued." Either this never happened, the girlfriend is extremely gullible, or the person was a very convincing bull**** artist.

This whole rumor is obviously nonsense. Even in the ungodly, mind****ing chance that it's true, it STILL would be nonsense.
