As a new FE player, which is the GO TO game after Awakening?

My question.

I'm far from doing everything I set out to do in FE:A, but I wanna know, which game would be best to play next, after I'm finished?

probably FE7, or simply Fire Emblem for the GBA.

It would depend on what you liked/disliked about Awakening.

Enjoyed powering up your characters? Try Sacred Stones.
Wished the kids got more fleshed out? Genealogy.

My personal suggestion would be FE12, though. It's a damn shame it didn't come over here, though.

In my opinion, Path of Radiance for the GameCube. That has some of the conveniences of Awakening, being able to purchase and distribute items before a battle and viewing support conversations before a fight. Sacred Stones would be good to, as that has a traversable world map and random encounters like this game.

I might get a lot of flak for this, but Shadow Dragon for the DS. It's readily available, and despite the lack of polish, it's a pretty decent pure strategy game. Plus, it has Marth--so as a newcomer, you might be a bit more familiar with him than the other lords (save Roy/Ike). Also, you can play it on your 3DS.

Breakfast....okay that wasn't funny.

My choice would be either Path of Radiance or Sacred Stones.

FE12 is one of my favorites. It has a casual mode and forgiving normal mode, so it's very new player friendly.

Sacred Stones is probably the one that's most similar to Awakening. But it's also easier.

I can't really speak for any of the others except FE7, though.

I went to play FE9 after Awakening, disappointed about the limited number of support and the concept of BEXP instead of map roaming grind like this, but an ok game overall.

Naturally, I continue with FE10 right after and enjoyed it for what it was.

The problem is that at this point, none of them are particularly easy to find outside of Japan. Some of them aren't even easy to find inside Japan.

If I had to recommend two, I'd suggest FE7 (the one just called "Fire Emblem" outside Japan) for the GBA, or FE9 (Path of Radiance) for the Gamecube. FE10 (Radiant Dawn) is also good, but it's a direct sequel to Path of Radiance.
