Which one is better?

Depends on difficulty.

Depends a bit on the difference between your res and enemy magic attack. If you have 40 res and they have 50 attack, then res10 is obviously going to be better; if you have 5 res and they have 50 attack, aegis is going to be better (when it procs). Aegis is held back a bit by its proc rate, unfortunately, but it's still a GREAT skill and very useful for low-res people.

Aegis.

No question.

Especially as you face more Luna users.

This is the only correct answer posted so far.

Look at it this way, Aegis is a skill% proc that halves the damage, whereas Res+10 is a guaranteed 10 less damage.

Therefore, the expected outcomes of the two, on any given attack are as follows:

D(aegis)= 1/200*(skill*Atk)

...with Atk being the enemy's attack and D being the defense offered.

D(res10)=10

Therefore, from a statistical standpoint, it would be better to get aegis if the product of the Skill and Atk are greater than 2000.

IE, 100 skill against someone with 20 atk would be the same as res+10. That said, it makes sense if you have 50 skill and the enemies are hitting over 40 -- which for most DLC and streetpass is very likely.

Well, Stahl's Res as a GK is only 39 with Limit Breaker. If I pair him up with his wife, he can get it up to 58 with Resistance +10. Since I plan on using Gen 1 characters on season 2 DLCs, is Aegis still the better choice?

For harder stuff Aegis is better.

For stuff you're stomping very easily and against weaker enemies than RES+10 is better.

Against enemies with Luna, Aegis is better.

I see. Guess I'll go with Aegis then.
