Sorry, but Ephraim's Alliance was the best for me.
Truth is exclusive by nature, for if it accepts non-truth, it nulls itself and the very concept of truth. Absolute truth cannot 'coexist' or 'tolerate.' Fiat.
I went with the Greil Mercs, if only because of their Big Damn Heroes entrance in Radiant Dawn.

GMs. griel was badass. crushed petrine easily and would go off on his own to hold a side of a fort all on his own. shinon and gatries entrance and dialogue in fe9 was cool. boyd wasnt bad also. the cocky axe guy of the game. soren had good lines in fe9 that could be used as quotes on facebook pics lol
Fianna Militia Liberation Army
Ephraim Alliance is pretty cool too
Real Metal bounces their breast. Deal with it
I like how in FE8 you basically recruit every single living important person on the continent except Mansel, Klimt and Dara, and the latter made it to the beta anyway.
I went with Dawn Brigade. They aren't really the best units or anything, but I like them for two reasons.
1: Character design. I find everybody in the Dawn Brigade visually pleasing, I would rate them as one of the most attractive groups in the entire series, at least imo.
2: They all fall into one archetype that I really like: They start off weak and bad, but they have the potential to be more-or-less the strongest units in the game if you work at it. Compared to, say, the Greil Mercs who all start off promoted with decent stats, but since they are already good and usable, I don't really enjoy using them because they don't have as much room to develop.
Like I enjoy working on a character like, say, Edward, getting him up to trueblade and tossing an Alondite on him and watch him go to work, I feel accomplished. I just feel bored when I do the same thing, except with Ike + Ragnell, because I didn't really need to do anything to make him reach god-mode, he just starts that way with no real investment or anything. To put it succinctly, using the weak characters to kill stuff feels gratifying, while using the broken characters just feels cheap.
Koitsu wa mirai wo takusu eigo no tsurugi da! ZANKUU TENSHOUKEN!!!!
I thought this said "crow" and was expecting a lot of Henry gushing. <.<

chroms shepherds- assuming it's everyone in the crew before Avatar joins.. this is a pretty good one. Lots of variety in personality and almost everyone is pretty likable.
greil mercenaries- concept is cool but too many characters I don't really like/care about
lyns escorts- I like how this is one of the more personal ones. Sain/Kent are her guardians, Florina is practically her BFF, Will isn't bad as.
children of fire (FE6 children of FE7 people)- so anyone that's a child of a Fire Emblem 7 character? (Like Sue, Roy, LIlina, Fir). I guess there's good characters but didn't feel like much as an overall group.
sigurds crusaders- Haven't played FE4
heroes of old (marths guys)- Haven't finished FE1, 3, 11 or 12
dawn brigade- Like Griel Mercenaries, I like the concept but don't particularly care for half the characters
leafs troops- haven't played FE5
ephraims alliance army- Taking on a castle with 4 units the best, otherwise eh.
Tough choice between Shephards and Legion
The Greil Mercenaries are the one group released in English that has both limited EXP (excludes 8, 13) and no useless characters (excludes 7 for Wallace and Marcus, 11 for Jagen). They don't have Arenas, they only have Bonus EXP to back them up... when Titania's the lowest-tier one in my opinion, and she's the series' second good Jeigan (Seth was first), you've got a good group.
Of course, this does leave out Shinon/Gatrie in PoR - their leaving for a time puts a dent in their being part of the group (and allows me to call them great without having to include the poorer-statted FE9 Shinon). FE10, the lower tier includes Titania, Mist, and Rolf because everyone else has already been given stupendous stats and growths with time to keep growing. Four of my five favorites are from that group, even... Ike, Soren, Boyd, and Shinon. Haar's above them all, in a couple different senses of the word, but he's an import from Elincia's Crimean Guard in that game.
Kissed-by-fire Emblem: You know nothing, Prince Chrom.
