I wonder how far up the tier list Gaius would go if he had the ability to randomly acquire them on any given turn. (sort of like how you find things in desert maps, but it works anywhere in this case).

Exactly. Plus, you actually have to initiate the attack. And it takes forever. And they run off the map. I've found the best experience is on Paralogue 18. If the unit is week, place them in the middle (in the fort) and rally the crap out of their skills with units behind them. If you just want to solo, pair your unit up and put them in the gate and end your turn
