Wakening for sure although RD crit animations are so much better than awakening. awakening ones are so lame especially sword masters.

Radiant Dawn had actual balance and the different teams idea was genius that resulted in much larger teams than seem to be doable in past FEs.

RD wins in every aspect except having supports.

So Awakening is better.

Awakening no contest. RD is one of my least favorites in the series.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.

RD had amazing maps and was perfect at mixing up map objectives.

And so begins a tale of vengeance and betrayal. Destiny by sinner sought. Tragedy by power wrought. Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume.

I'll compare both in a not MUCH detailed way:

Plot - Both are bad, but RD is better.

Gameplay - Both are awesome, since they follow FE standard. Both have incredibly abusable and OP characters or mechanics. They are even here.

Graphics - RD, by far the best animations on both Map and Standard. Awakening has better portraits, menus and some other things (such as 3D), but those are minor. RD wins here.

Sounds - Awakening's are very well composed, but few are memorable. Awakening has only "Don't speak her name", "Conquest" and the one when you battle Walhart.
RD's personal themes are awesome. "Wheeling Corby", "Unstoppable Destiny", "March of the Lion King" and many others, like Zelgius', Skrimir's personal themes, as well as most Map-themes played on Part 3 are made of WIN. The Part 2 and Generic Boss battle themes are pretty good, too. So yeah, RD curbstomps here.

Character Development - Here is where RD falls. Generic supports for most characters is terrible, and the non-generic ones changing only a line do not help. Base Conversations are nice, but don't add much depth. It's Awakening curbstomping around, a trillion of interesting and non-generic supports (for most part), with backstory, nice relationship, etc. Some say the marriages are rushed, those people never played Genealogy.

Map Designs - Awakening's major flaw, RD's major point. A lot of defend the point chapters, use of ledges to modify accuracy, great variety in objectives and maps. The bridge chapter (Part 3 Chapter 11, IIRC), as well as both 2-E and 3-13 are my best experience with FE until now. They are very challenging, but not impossible and you don't need to reset abuse. (I'm looking at you Lunatic+)

Lastly, Awakening beats RD in Replay Value and post-game content for very obvious reasons, which means you will probably spend far more time in Awakening.

Verdict - RD. Both are great games, and like they say, quality > quantity. Awakening has a ton of stuff, but it seems the game was rushed, as those things are not done or balanced very well. Radiant Dawn, on other hand, does everything it has (except supports) very well.

Edit: Had to waste some minutes of my lunch time, but fixed the problems and some typos.

actually, the difference between avatar and the rest of the FEA cast, is MUCH, MUCH larger than the gap between Haar/Ike/etc. vs the rest of the RD cast. Hell, on lunatic, the difference between sorcerers and nonavatar/nonfred characters is still probably larger than haar/ike/etc. vs RD people.

Also, nothing in RD is even as remotely broken as the pair up mechanic.

The only thing Awakening has on RD is character development.

Taking bets that a lot people are voting Awakening without actually playing RD, as for a lot, this is their first FE game.
