And the last srpg ive played was advance wars on gba. Ill be starting fire emblem today and im thinking of going with casual normal. Do you think this is a good idea for someone new to FE and not a lot of srpg experience? I don't want to miss out on the "FE experience" but im the kind of person that will restart if even 1 person dies.

Go ahead with Normal/Casual, try ramping it up to Classic if you go into doing more playthroughs.

I've always found normal to be way too easy...

I'd start with hard/casual for my first runthrough personally...

Well, this is a guy who hasn't play SRPGs since Advance Wars on GBA...

I don't think we want another bad reaction to reinforcements that move on the turn they enter...

If normal is pretty easy, maybe normal/classic would be ok for a beginner?

I would say so. Either Normal/Classic or Hard/Casual for a beginner. Just remember to reset when you lose a character.

The only game that did that was AW2, and that was only in the factory missions. And outside of Factory Blues, getting near the factory was generally a pretty bad idea...

also how is Advance Wars any kind of RPG, there's no leveling up, and the plot's not any more nuanced than the average Sonic game

Don't mean to turn this into FE vs AW just looking for opinion on the best way to start for a newb

Normal Classic/Hard Casual would be fine for a first playthrough.
