so all of the fire emblem continents are on the same planet?

Because it makes zero sense. They reference Laguz several times through out the game. Which they would have zero knowledge of if it took place in a different world. Because they clearly don't have space technology to go to a different planet and the outrealm gate didn't exist in 9/10 (Or any of the other games for that matter). It would have been mentioned somewhere somehow in the game.

Most of the references to Laguz could just be to Taguel. Here's a bit of wild mass guessing on my part: Maybe Tageul are Laguz that traveled from Tellius to Archanea/Ylisse through the Outrealms. Maybe the move to another world somehow forced them to give up their old means of shifting forms and adopt the stones that manakete use.

Actually that's pretty accurate considering how much they mess up simple things like the geography of Valentia, the bizarre weapon redesigns, the general laziness when it comes to dynamic dialogue, etc. The supports are also weird in that so many of them involve characters doing the strangests things and not even being concerned that a war is going on.

Doing whatever they wanted because it might be the last game was pretty much what they said in various interviews.

this is clearly your first fire emblem game

Haha, no. The characters here are more detached from the war than they've ever been in any game. The ratio is far too skewed towards non-serious.

To be fair most of the supports of past game (that had supports) took place within the battlefield... so they either made sense or were weird.

Awakening supports are are meant to take place outside the battlefield itself (although it isn't always the case).

As oppose to what? Let's take PoR for example, all of them was playing off the quirks of their personality, like Gatrie macking on some chick, or Mia trying to find her rival, Mist trying to be useful, Boyd working out, etc...

And of additional note to Path of Radiance, those supports also took place outside of battle.
