Fire Emblem math.

Look, the game doesn't just randomly sneak in extra damages. You messed up somewhere and are trying to put the blame on something unreasonable.

Okay, I'm going to assume you have more experience than I do with this particular entry in the series. Let me go over every aspect of the situation, without leaving anything out. I can admit when I make a mistake, so I'm not going to lie or conveniently leave anything out on purpose.

Eirika: 22 HP. 6 defense. Sword user. +1 MT and +15% hit chance (iirc?) against axe wielders.
Tirado: 40 HP. 14 defense. Lance user. +1 MT and +15% hit chance (iirc?) against sword wielders.
The red carpet, "Floor", tiles all around him add nothing to defense and evasion.

Eirika approaches Tirado. I pretend like I'm going to attack him with her Rapier. It says his MT value is 21. When I do the math in my head, 22 MT is what he should do, so it makes sense that Eirika died. HOWEVER, the game is supposed to count all variables in the box when I go to make a move. It always does. Why would this one situation be the exception? I honestly think it's a glitch.

EDIT: No-one was standing next to Eirika. I didn't bring Seth, and Ephraim and Forde were standing back.

Impossible. You must have moved a unit that provides support bonuses out of range. The game doesn't f*** up simple math. It can't. But you can. And you did. Wanna know why?

Against Eirika:

Easy/Normal Mode:

Tirado's attack = 13 (His strength in E/M Mode) + 14 (Might of Silver Lance) + 1 (WT Bonus) = 28

Hard Mode

Tirado's attack = 14 (His strength in Hard Mode) + 14 (Might of Silver Lance) + 1 (WT Bonus) = 29

It is simply impossible for Tirado to ever have less than 28 attack against Eirika. If Eirika has 6 Defense like you said, Tirado will be doing either 22 or 23 damage. There are no ways around it.

You f***** up and blamed the game. Own up to it.

On my second attempt, I did the math in my head. Eirika died because he did 22 damage. Fair. However, the game specifically said, when I went to attack him, that he'd do 21. The game is supposed to add up all the variables, not forget about the Weapon Triangle.

The game does add up all the variables. It doesn't 'forget' about the weapon triangle. All of the calculations are done for you in the prebattle window and everything is properly displayed.

Tirado may default to a weaker, ranged weapon to prevent mage spamming. He prolly just switched to the silver lance afterwards, since you were up close.

I thought about that, but that wasn't the case. He had the Silver Lance equipped when he attacked.

I'm done.

EDIT: I edited the OP so no-one else tries to argue with me about this. I'll probably delete this topic soon. I'm already halfway through Chapter 9, so I'm moving on.
