Well, I finally gave in....

EB Games is having a pretty good Vita sale (buy a WiFi Vita unit and get a starter kit free, as well as one select game free) and so I gave in and nabbed a Vita along with this game. I guess in the end portable Ninja Gaiden was too hard to pass up, even if I think some of the issues with this game are damn near a travesty.

My stuff should be here by the end of the week. Hopefully the issues with this game are not severe enough to totally rob me of my enjoyment, because I really do like the idea of a portable iteration of Ninja Gaiden 1, even if it is Sigma, and a diminished version of it at that. It's still probably going to be the best action game ever to grace the Vita. NG at its core is just so damn good!

Btw, what are the three items that can be combined to basically overpower Ryu to the point of breaking the game? I want to know because that would be fun to play around with after completing all of the difficulties. Thanks :)

It's not that game-breaking unless you really know what you're doing, but here's what I got:

-While you can equip Accessories for your characters, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus allows you to equip unlockable "Enchancements" at the same time that change your stats slightly. The effects of these stack with the Accessories.
-On top of that, you can use three other unlockable costumes that also change your stats. The "cheapest" one is Ryu's NG3 costume, "The Grip of Murder", which increases his defense and attack stats.

So for example, you equip the Armlet of the Sun to increase your attack power. This stacks onto your "Grip of Murder" costume, increasing your attack. You then equip the Azure Dragon Helm, which greatly increases defense in exchange for a loss of defense, on top of that as your Enchancement: increasing your damage even more.

I imagine that this would be game breaking for the same type of person for whom the 5% UF was game breaking :P

Yeah, pretty much.
It's fun to fool around with, though. Any Enchancement you unlock is unlocked forever, and can be used in any part of the Story or Ninja Trial modes.

In contrast to Accessories and weapons, which don't carry over. >_>

It's odd that NG had successive play, which was then removed in future iterations. I mean, it makes sense in terms of protecting the challenge factor, but for multiple playthroughs it is a nice feature.

Whoops, I meant Azure Dragon Helm greatly increases Attack, not Defense.

Basically, if you have the Armlet of the Sun, Azure Dragon Helm, and the Grip of Murder costume, you can one-shot most enemies with ETs and Flying Swallows.

But yeah, a New Game+ that carried over your weapons, essence, or items would be nice.
They sort of addressed this in the Ninja Trials, which let you use a variety of weapons against enemies in situations that usually wouldn't show up in the story mode, but it's bo replacement.

Ninja Trials is awesome because it's actually different than the Mission Mode present in NGB, which means more variety for longtime NG players :)

Yeah, they can put you in some insane situations.

Plus, they can count for weapon and ninpo usage trophies.
