I'm debating if it's really worth paying $40 for five new characters...

New modes too, probably a better online experience as well. Oh and of course, being able to switch out that horrible rap song.

IIRC it's actually five new stages. (Carrier, Desert, Forest, Tokyo Sky City and Lost World)
You've also got new mechanics and moves for everyone, and new outfits.
The real bonus, though, might just be Core Fighters. A F2P version that's compatible with the paid version should give the online a much-needed shot in the arm.

look at what you got for $60 with DOA5

compare to what you get for $40 with doa5u

since you already have doa5 that $40 gets you even less content.

so pretty much. no not worth it

Did they add tag team online? If so I might consider it.

Not meaning to highjack the thread but does DLC from DOA5 transfer to ultimate?

Yes and some of them actually became on-disk themselves.

Yes it does. You won't have to worry about rebuying them again

I actually haven't bought any and was thinking about buying them.
If some of them go on-disk that's cool. Now I don't have to fork over cash except you know for the game..

If you still haven't decided by now after seeing the new characters, new stages, new costumes, new modes, new online options, new moves, rebalanced characters, hearing about the better online netcode, and custom music(previous doa soundtracks) for characters, you need to pack it up.

Glad I pre-ordered mine in july.

Oh and I could have sworn Ultimate was announced a long time ago. Waiting until the last second to complain about the price instead of saving up was idiotic for some of you.
