My Harvest Moon: A New Beginning tips.

-No matter how boring it is, it is useful to hear what the spring tutorial says. I've seen so many people asking where the festival grounds or even where the blueprint shop for making from blueprints is.

-Hoard everything, even scrap metal, except for a few exceptions, like insects that aren't bees.

-Always have several bags of chicken and pet feed. The crap is cheap and I don't ever come close to running out and it baffles me that people have so many issues with rainy days.

-Fertilize as long as possible. For crops that regrow, like cucumbers, just fertilize and water as normal. For crops that disappear entirely after harvesting, fertilize daily and water once every other day.

-Money is shoved down your throat early in the game even without wifi, and it comes from your animals. Give them their respective treats daily to increase their production rate, and cook the produce to increase its price. My chickens lay three eggs each, my cows give me four milks. I use that to make 6 puddings daily, which gives me 11k. I sell my golden silkie eggs (3) as they are, which is another 6k. I then sell my remaining 1 Yak milk and 2 regular milks as cheese and yak cheese, which also become part of my daily maker use for 300 uses to unlock the medicine maker.

-Save the wool

-No harm in gifting (or at least talking) to everyone, since the guide of what villagers give you isn't 100% complete. even then, they'll give you birthday presents when you're good friends with them (and I do mean good friends. I spent a month throwing butterflies at Hana (my birthday is Summer 14) and she still didn't give me anything on my birthday.

-Don't break down your branches into small/lumber. Branches are harder to come by, lumber isn't. And save all your small/rocks and only turn them into material stone once needed.

-Get yourself some better quality flowers asap for perfume which is used in raising honey quality, and there is a honey festival on Spring 22.

-And the record player is useless. ~_~ I thought it'd be a complete replacement to music, but no, it's only for inside my house. Which I'm barely in. SO yeah, boooo.

-Honeycombs are easily gotten on your own in Fall. You get more than enough for make 4 beehives. The game also won't end if you're set off track for a few months.

Great tips, especially the hoarding. I wish I would have known to hoard everything in the beginning, would have saved me a lot of stress. XP

Question for you about the extra milk that you got... I give my cows treats every day and have only ever gotten one milk each.. does it automatically give you more than one when you milk them or do you milk them more than once? I've had extra eggs from my chickens but nothing extra from my cows,

Thanks.

It's automatic, you only milk once.

Care to elaborate on the water/fertilizer stuff?

I know Grass doesn't need watered. I tried fertilizing some flowers in my first Spring every day until they were ready to pick and they were just as good as Turnips I'd only fertilized once. So I'd assumed repeated fertilization either didn't help, or didn't help at the early stages of the game. (I only just learned that you unlock better field quality as you go.)

The game tells you to water everything twice a day. Is that was "water and fertilize as normal" means?

And can you really get by just doing each once every other day on one-time crops?

I'm just into the first Summer and currently burning all but 1 heart just doing morning chores watering 4 fields of produce, harvesting 2 fields of grass, and taking care of 3 cows.

As for the hoarding thing, does that include stuff like Fish? Frogs? Poison Mushrooms?

I can confirm using 1 fertilizer a day does help. I planted tomato in summer first chance I got first couple of days only missed 3 fertilizers the whole season and had a 2.5 tomato I won the beginner crop festival with using a gravel soil

that's what that means, yes. I'm not sure how fertilizer works in its..er..logic or whatever, but yes you do need to be applying it every day.

And can you really get by just doing each once every other day on one-time crops?

Yes. natsume themselves even recommended this technique.

No, only reason to hoard those are for character gifts but those are just up to you.
