I beat it but after playing the game several times on other difficulties some areas seemed so easy, like the school and gym area for example.

Other areas were so difficult I never thought I would beat them. The bloater with David was the hardest part of the game for me. I only had a couple bullets and arrows but luckily each person killed either left an arrow or a bullet. But all that running to stay alive and dying sucked! Luckily I didn't use bombs til I got here then I lobbed 2 molotovs and a bomb when he showed up and he was gone.

The second toughest area for me was where Ellie was the sniper. I took me a couple hours and many deaths but I did it without firing a shot. All stealth and melee. The problem one fist to the face will kill you.

I didn't get enough shiv's to open all doors but it was ok.

I did not use a health kit the entire game! yay! But I died more times than I could count. It was good not having a hud, otherwise I would have looked at my health meter every few seconds and it would have made me too cautious.

Even without checkpoints I never got set back very far. Most of my deaths were near the beginning of the levels thankfully.

I didn't use any ammo at all until I was hanging upside down, I had to shoot there, no choice.

In fact I tried not to use ammo most of the game but I had to in some areas.

I ran past a lot of enemies and probably didn't kill half.

It was so satisfying to beat grounded! I am hoping the save carries over to the PS4 because I want to do grounded plus on the PS4.

After grounded I feel like I would be invincible on easy mode lol I know every area very well after dying repeatedly. Forced me to learn patterns and so forth. Some enemy patterns were the same on grounded.

How did everyone else like grounded? Thoughts?

I'm not really far into it (I'm at the museum) but it seems too easy to me.

Maybe I just got better at the game (or maybe it's just because I'm being ultra cautious) but I've only broken stealth a few times and when I did I was able to remedy that pretty quickly. I've only died twice so far. Once was fall damage (daaaaaaaaaang Joel is fragile in this mode), and the other time I got seen as soon as I started strangling an enemy, who promptly popped four caps into me before Joel became controllable again.

I think we all get better after playing it a few times. I remember thinking Survivor was really hard. But I was watching someone play that difficulty after I beat Grounded. Survivor looks so easy now.

The museum was tough on Survivor but on Grounded I ran straight to the window and jumped out. Yeah, I took the easy way a lot and ran past a lot of enemies. lol

Ok Grounded Mode is amazing. I just got through the Capitol and holy crap I laughed my head off. It took me several tries, but that's ok because they were all gold. The time I finally succeeded, here's how it went down:

I followed the guy into the room straight ahead to strangle him like I had several times before, but before I could get him, I was detected, so I started throwing punches. While my fists are flying, he counters and an armored guy runs in the room. I catch the counter and finish the guy off, expecting the new guy to gun me down as soon as I kill him, but apparently I was too quick. I grabbed my brick and combo'd him to death, then I ran for it because the other guys were surely about to get me.

I was right. I dodged bullets running into the back room and crouched behind the table, and lost them. I finished off the last two guys stealthily, picked up a new brick and moved to the next area. I got lucky and picked a path none of the enemies did, and got to the last area. Ellie tells me "There's the door!" and I start slowly making my crouchy way over. Then, disaster. One of the guys starts going around my box while the other one is watching my only means of escape. It's only a matter of time before one sees me and I'm dead. So, I decide to take a chance. I pull out the brick I picked up in the last area, chunked it at the guy by the door, and flew past as fast as Joel's legs would take him. There were bullets flying everywhere but I managed to avoid getting hit. It was GLORIOUS.

Awesome!!!!!! I made it to the steps of the subway a few timed and bullets killed me just as before I ran inside. I hated having to restart so far back! But I got the hang of it and finally in the last room I threw a brick to distract them and crouched out the door so slowly unseen, halfway down the steps unseen, and ran for it. I was so happy to make it down those steps!

Another very satisfying area was the part with the 2 bloaters just before the hospital. I threw a brick in the middle, then set them all on fire with a Molotov and crouched past them and made it! They didn't die but I looked at them for a bit walking around before I moved on. I died there a few times in Survivor but not once this time. I was so happy!

Just made it to Pittsburgh.

The bloater wasn't tough at all (lol) but all those runners are. I actually had more trouble with the three runners that follow the bloater than I did with the bloater itself.

It doesn't look like Bill can ever kill it by himself, which is a shame because I don't want to use my precious supplies. One time I killed it with a single Molotov, which was nice. But then the runners got me. =/ Every other time it took a molotov AND a bomb. Oy vey.

I ended up using a single shotgun shell against the three runners, and surviving that way. I'm actually finding I have much better luck against runners by running around screaming like a little girl and then punching one to death when I find it by itself than by using any kind of actual stealth or strategy lol. They're just too alert. But that doesn't work so well without someone else to distract them.

Yes the Ellie + David parts were the most difficult for me, but I've definitely gotten really good at this game where the Survivor playthrough I did last year felt much harder than the more recent Grounded playthrough.

the hardest part for me was when joel and henry are stuck in the building and sam and ellie are trying to open the door. it seemed like i just had enough ammo and supplies to barely survive.
after a few attempts i realized and remembered ellie will open the door early so you don't have to kill everyone, which i was trying to do.
i threw stood in the right doorway and placed a bomb there and threw a molotov down the hallway and shot people and ran away when they got too close and then shot some more from near the doorway, ran around the room a bit and luckily ellie had opened the door.

for the bloater with david, it was really easy for me. i placed a bomb where the bloater jumps down and when he jumped down i threw a molotov at him too. and that killed him.
i actually had a lot of fun with the ellie and david section.

I'm not there on Grounded yet but I found easy mode for Survivor was to save two molotovs, aim one up into the little balcony they come from and toss it once they start showing up. It's still not an instant win because some of them come from... somewhere else. But it takes care of everyone coming from that direction for a while.

when i got to the subway i realized there was no way i was going to kill all the bloaters and clickers with 3 bullets so i snuck passed (which i may have done before in previous plays but dont remember)
i find it a little weird that ellie yells down to you and throws down the crate for you to climb on as if no one can hear anything but luckily they dont hear it
