I don't understand why I can't play the videos,

I just bought this game and my computer meets all the minimum specs, if I try to play the video directly i.e. via the file in the game directory it plays fine. However if I try to play the game it locks up on a black screen, if I remove all the videos it loads fine. So why can't my computer play the video in the game?
