what if you are able to turn Charizard's type into fire/dragon instead of loosy fire/flying?
at least he would be useful again ...

I'm soo probably wrong, but I could've sworn I once saw Charizard's type in Crystal or Gold/Silver Dragon/Fire once...

I remember something like that because I was like... "WTF?!?! Changed Charizard to Dragon-type? How about Venasaur and Blastoise!?!?"

Weren't all of our current gen 1 Flying/Normal types at one time just Flying?

Also, I'm in a similar boat. I thought Charizard was just Fire up until at least Yellow. And I thought that Gyrados was something like Water/Dragon up until some point.
Rotom's alternate forme types were definitely changed. So type changes are definitely a possibility. Though I'm not totally sure if making a starter into a dragon is going to happen. But if they did, I think Serperior's typing would have to adopt dragon as well or something.

Charizard was always Fire/Flying.

He just couldn't LEARN Fly until Yellow.

And Gyarados was never Water/Dragon

if he was ever Water/Dragon he'd be the most overpowered regular pokemon

I could have sworn my Charizard in Red knew fly. Gyarados has always been water/flying; you're right about that. He makes taking down dragon types easy, though, with his dragon moves.

Unless you transferred your Charizard to Yellow to learn fly, then, no.

Charizard couldn't learn fly in Red/Blue. He could from Yellow and on.

You're right! My memory was totally off. Then again, that was 14 years ago that I played it. ;)

The only Pokemon whose types ever changed - other than getting alternate formes - were Magnemite, Magneton, and all of Rotom's nonstandard formes (yes, Rotom counts because he changed type AFTER he already had the alternate formes - the formes used to be Electric/Ghost just like standard Rotom.) There are no other cases I'm aware of.
