I know this is a third version, but the two seems to imply a sequel of sorts. I'm not sure it would be possible, but what would you think if we got three new starters?
Good idea or hate it?

Nothing wrong with the idea, just that it's impossible.
Unless you mean with new starters as in one of the older starters, then it's just implausible.

I figured if it was a sequel there might be a time skip or jump. Something to explain it away. That way, with new starters, the game would have a new or different challenge.

Who would the starters be, if not Tepig, Oshawott, and Snivy? The Monkeys? (Arceus forbid...)

There are no placeholders for new Pokemon or new forms besides Kyurem's in Black and White.

While it is possible to have new Pokemon and formes in B2 and W2 they would lack compatibility with the original BW.

As if GSC had this problem.

It's just a simple "ERROR. You're trying to use something in a cross game fight/trade something that doesn't belong in the previous game! too bad."

I swear though if I see Fighting/Psychic/Dark in this topic..

GSC was an entirely separate generation from RBY, though. While it is possible that GameFreak could arbitrarily decide to come up with new Pokemon just for BW2, it's not probable, given how GameFreak has handled generations in the past.

BW2 is anomalous. There's no arguing that point. Regardless, one anomaly does not completely invalidate everything that has happened in the past.
