Like you can predict when a critical hit is going to happen. 80% of the time I correctly predict impending paralysis, burn and confusion.

Yeah of course you can. Because the script is something like this:

if(afflictionrate < 80){afflictionrate = 80;}

It also gets a +15 modifier if the user is a battle subway trainer. All other values are a lie.

Sometimes I use a move in hope of inducing its secondary effect, and it works. Other times, I try using confusion to stall a couple turns, which works.

Sometimes I throw pokeball hoping it will catch the pokemon and it works!

Sometimes I meet wild pokemon and predict it won't be shiny and I'm right!

At most you get more experience to know what to expect, but no sixth sense.
