return to Kanto and see how much it has changed in the last ten years. It would be cool.

Well a Battle Frontier is located in Kanto now, so I doubt it changed much since then.

Emerald's Battle Frontier was in Kanto in the anime.

I think putting the battle frontier in Kanto was their way of advertising both FR/LG and Emerald

No, they are Generation III remakes of Generation I games. There's a difference.
