Not really, if you start with Yellow, there are no IVs or EVs back then, just DVs which worked differently from IVs.

Not sure if GSC Red had maxed stats, but there were IVs, just that they went up to 15 instead of 31.

Besides, how is he gonna change their stats? He can check Snorlax's as he came in Level 30.

Not change, soft reset that encounter until he encountered a perfect IV'd Snorlax.

Ah well... I guess ya right, he could have rebred all of them... >.>

So yeah, it's very likely that Red worked really hard for his team.
