I was thinking Fire at first cause Poodles are sometimes pink, But I would be fine if it was a Water Starter.

Grass, or at least part grass because its fluffy fur would make me think of cotton.

Border Collie would be much better, with an ability which boosts rare or shiny encounter rates.
