Is an action replay needed?

#1JoshMHhunterPosted 10/5/2012 10:47:46 PM
Coming back to pokemon and I own a 3ds, now will I suffer not owning an action replay? I notice people make their own in game teams. Either I guess they trade from previous versions or they action replay to get the desired pokemon. Same for eg training. Do you use an AR to rare candy your pokemon after you already ev trained? Same for getting the items that speed ev training up.

My friend is getting the game too and owns a ds lite. So if an action replay is good to have I'll pick one up. If so is their a certain AR I should get or will anyone work? Thanks!

I don't need no Action Replay aside from activating Challenge Mode, I use Pokégen. But, you could wait until they release a newer Action Replay model or a firmware update that supports Black and White 2.

No, it's not necessary. Save your money for something else.

Action Replay isn't needed. You can still get specific Pokemon you want with RNG abuse as the only tools needed are the computer programs RNG Reporter and EonTimer which don't modify your game.

Action Replay devices no longer work on the 3DS anyway. Despite the claims on the products' web site.

This is due to Nintendo adding them to the same blacklist that blocks flash carts in the latest firmware update.

Though really, the game is more fun without cheating or RNG abuse.

Ok this is great to know! I'll look into this RNG aspect I keep reading about. I take it I RNG after the main game? So I'll have some time to figure everything out.

RNG abuse can be done at any time. RNG stands for "Random Number Generator".

Basically, RNG abuse is using the predictable nature of the games' Random Number Generator to your advantage.

If you seek shiny pokemon with this you will need your Secret ID which you can get by uploading a Pokemon to Pokecheck after you get the C-Gear:

http://www.pokecheck.org/

Follow the instructions carefully though.

Another poster may be able to direct you to some good RNG abuse tutorials.

The only reason you might want an AR is to activate Challenge Mode straight away.
