Alom_o_molaPosted 11/10/2012 7:28:11 PM (edited) | This was something I wanted to ask some time ago but exams got in the way. So, my belief is that Gen V is somewhat of a reboot. I.e. they opted for a fresh new start of Pokemon.
So in this poll, I plan to find similarities between the new Gen V and the original Gen I and ask you guys which is the best. In terms of best, it can be based on anything, appearance, effectiveness in both ingame and competitive or even it's name. You decide.
So, here are some similarities between the two.
- Both are pure fighting types
- Both are used to help people build buildings
- Both reach their Stage 2 evolution via trading

Day 1: Geodude line vs Roggenrola line - 44.35% to 55.65%
Day 2: Machop line vs Timburr line
Day 3: Litwick line vs Gastly line
Day 4: Sawk/Throh vs Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan
Day 5: Pidove line vs Pidgey line
Day 6: Sewaddle line vs Caterpie line
Day 7: Venipede line vs Weedle line
Day 8: Pikachu vs Emolga
Day 9: Audino vs Chansey
Day 10: Bouffalant vs Tauros
Day 11: Foonugs line vs Paras line
Day 12: Foongus line vs Voltorb line
Day 13: Tentacool line vs Frillish line
Day 14: Ducklett line vs Psyduck line
Day 15: Cottonee/Petilil line vs Oddish/Bellsprout line
Day 16: Kabuto/Omanyte line vs Tirtouga/Archen line
Day 17: Mewtwo vs Genesect

Day ??: More locations to be done. Will look into it
I'm open to ideas on which locations to compare since it's interesting that both regions have 23 routes before the elite four. Route 22ish? are away from the mainland.
I'm also open to more pokemon comparisons.

Oh, and Machop (Machamp) because Dynamically punching everything is fun. When I experiment with Iron Fist Conkeldurr, my opinion may change. (:

I actively dislike Timburr and Gurdurr, and find Conkeldurr to be somewhat ok, if not a bit strange.
So.. I'm going with Gen 1 here. My opinion is based entirely on design, not stats/movepool, but whatever.
