Like Gen 3, but I used to hate it for two reasons:
1. Water Routes, there was almost no land areas by the last third of the adventure. Though, compared to the other Gens, surf is handled nicely. To be honest, surfing speed is fast, so you go through areas at a decent rate, but if had Gen 4's surf I would HATE Hoenn with a passion.
2. The lack of catchable Pokemon in the main game. What you want a Houndour? Well, you got trade it from FR/LG or Colosseum or wait until you beat the Elite 4.
The end is only the beginning. Official 3rd Raikage of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Board
Everyone who started with Gen I or II hates Gen III, because of the lack of continuity.
Everyone else is fine with it.
You speak lies. I started with Gen I, and I absolutely love Gen III.
This. It doesn't beat Gold/Silver/Crystal, but I do enjoy the heck out of it.
My Opinion of the Generations (The games, not the Pokémon Designs):
Gen II > Gen III > Gen I > Gen V >>>>>>>>>>> Gen IV
Of course, I am NOT counting remakes. Just the main trios.
I don't like Gen IV's D/P/Pt at all (I enjoy them, but in comparison to the others, I think they suck), but Heart Gold and Soul Silver are probably my favorite Pokémon games (even though I hate the walking pokemon waste of a feature)
Also, go look at a poll on Bulbagarden forums on what people think is the best generation. Gen III is winning.
It also has... RSE had -Hoenn, the best region -The best soundtrack (R/S/E) -The best Battle Frontier -Secret Bases -Trick House -Two different bikes -The best Champion ever. :3 -Best starters -A lot of my favorite Pokemon are from it (Absol, Flygon, Gardevoir...)
FR/LG had: -Sevii Islands -Fame Checker
I love Gen 3 =D
All through my wild days, my mad existence, I kept my promise, don't keep your distance.
