And what types do you generally not care about

I usually Use:
Electric
Water/(Ice)
Rock/Ground
and a Normal/Flying type

Sometimes Use:
Fire
Fighting

Never Use:
Ghost
Dark
Psychic
Poison
Bug
Grass

Use if it happens to be part of a type I use:
Dragon
Steel

ANd I never use Starters, Legendaries, or Pokemon that don't evolve

I usually use:
Fighting
Steel
Dragon

I rarely prefer anything else for its typing. I just seem to always have too many Fighting and Steel types to choose a candidate for, though I always usually have 1 Dragon.

What I don't usually use/avoid:
Ghost
Poison
Water
Ice
Normal

Very rare cases I use the above, such as Gyarados.

I don't choose my team based on type, rather choosing who I think will be useful while not making the game too much easier. From who's left after that, I try not to carry more than 1 of each type. If that ends up giving me an incomplete team, i will go back through and re-select from the beginning until I'm happy.

Whatever I can get that looks cool, regardless of type.

Once I'm through the story and have access to everything, I mostly use bugs in and out of the game.

I always have

Grass
Water
Fire
Electric
Flying

The last one I just choose while playing the game. I always use my Starter and catch the other 2 types I didn't choose.

But what Types have you usually chosen that are useful?

A water type that I give Ice moves.
A psychic or ghost that has dark.
An electric type.
A ground type with rock moves.
A flyer
A Fire type.

I may mix some together or just use random stuff that looks cool.

I think never is enough.

Got to have a ground type, steal type, water type, and a fighting type. After that I'll take whatever interests me like a dark, bug, fire or electric type. Never had a poison or rock type besides Tyranitar.

LoL, I got nothing. Just keep it how you want.

Anti-Flying Pokemon. Anything that learns Rock, Ice, Electric moves is good.
Anti-Dragon Pokemon. (Water-Type w/ Ice Moves or Ice Pokemon)
Anti-Steel Pokemon.
Anti-Water Pokemon (Grass or Electric Type)
A Flying-Type.
Sturdy Ground-Type or something to abuse Earthquake.

I almost never use Dragon, Poison, Psychic, or Rock types. Dragons are hard to find, hard to raise, and tend to underwhelm in-game (Boss competitively, though), Poison is never used unless it's paired with another type, Psychic is generally outclassed by Flying, and Rock Pokemon are worse than Ground Pokemon. The only Rock-Type I've ever used was Archeops back in B/W.
