Pokemon Black Version 2

Is it just me or is there absolutely no strategy to Pokemon anymore?

I don't really care about netbattle, it generally relies on things that are virtually impossible when playing legitimately (at least without timing exploits), like perfect IVs and such on event legendaries. If you need that kind of stuff to make defense viable there's obviously a problem with the game.

It's really more like "ITT: any pokemon can be killed in a couple hits by an offensively powerful pokemon". Whether they have a 4x weakness or not doesn't really matter, but most of the pokemon who are considered to be walls (Gliscor, Amoongus, Ferrothorn, etc), do.

Play doubles for strategy. A lot of really great support pokes are only useful in doubles.

It honestly seems like this may be the answer. Though I hope EQ + Levitate and Explosion + Protect aren't as absurdly dominant as they used to be.

In second and third gen this was much less true. Offence is continuously getting stronger, I don't see how anyone who plays the game can try to refute that.

WOAH, WOAH, OP! Do you really expect me to read all that crap?
Pokemon requires more strategy than ever. You just can't into gen 5. This isnt gen 2 where you can stall everything out anymore so stop trying to.

I would at least like to be able to come in on a predicted attack and have one turn to set up rather than getting 2HKOed by an attack that isn't even super effective.

Do you even know what you're talking about? Sigh
Anyway, ye first pointed out even with perfect IVs things still die easily, which is WHY you should stop theorymonning and get onto real battle with showdown

Also, while a few points matter to some calculations, a difference of 31 points rarely matter SO MUCH when it comes to defense. In addition, you can't possibly expect your non IV bred Pokemon to have perfectly 0/0/0 def IVs to back up your argument that Netbattles cant give arguments becoz perfect IVs = perfect defenses etc

If you think that's so lulzy I'm honestly curious to see what you think can switch in against, say, a Hydregion carrying Dragon Gem or Life Orb and Draco Meteor, Fire Blast, Superpower, and Dark Pulse, with Stealth Rock out. I literally see nothing that can wall this.


The only thing I can think of that's going to be able to come in and kill it is something that has the speed advantage or a move like Ice Shard or Bullet Punch, which goes back to what I wrote in the OP about how it's just about fast pokemon who hit hard.

My pokemon are IV bred and generally have 20+ in all meaningful stats with 31s in the important ones. It still doesn't change much.


What is the issue with netbattle though are the pokemon you can't breed (or in many cases even obtain) legitimately. Like sure, I'd love to run Deoxys-D. But I have no method of obtaining him. And even if I did, his IVs and nature would probably be crap.
