How to beat the grass (bug?) gym leader?

#1nintendomaniacoPosted 11/24/2012 10:43:56 PM
I picked Oshawott, and I only ever train my main, but I keep loosing. I'm level thirty something now, but razor leaf is pretty deadly anyway. I've run out of trainers to beat, so how can I beat this gym?!

Obvious solution would be to train ANYthing besides your starter but to each his own...

Get a Growlithe at the Virbank Complex, level him up a bit, and enjoy an easy victory.

I have two fighting moves and two water moves, both of which are weak against them. I don't think I have any useful tms.

I've captured every pokemon I've come across up until now, and while it'd be a pain to have to train a level five or something to be able to beat this gym, I guess I'll consider it. What would be the best pokemon? I don't have any fire types.

If you insist on using Oshawott/Dewott, hunt down Audinos.

Otherwise, pick up a Fire, Poison, or Flying type to take care of Leavanny (have your Dewott, and I sincerely hope you evolved the thing, take care of Dwebble). In another hilarious circumstance, Magnemite resists whatever Burgh throws at you.

If you insist on using your starter, Return should allow you to do neutral damage to Leavanny.

Get Braviary at Route 5. It's level 25, and thanks to its typing and stupid stats, you don't even need to train it.

Aerial Ace for massive damage.

I don't think it's possible, you should just give up... I'm sorry. But don't worry, there are other games out there for you to play. I hear Digimon games are good...
