How well do you think adding triple-type Pokemon will go?

Horrible, and so confusing. Some Pokemon could have an 8x weakness, which would be too weak to withstand an attack like that.

How well would a lead balloon fly?

I don't care what you say, Generation II sucks.
That's just my opinion, no matter how true it may be.

Really depends on the combinations.

Let's take a defensive Ice+Grass mon, and test adding two different types.

Add Dragon

It has two more weaknesses than Abomasnow- 9 in total. And the new weaknesses are Ice and Dragon. Wonderful.
What does it gain defensively from the added dragon type?

2x from fire instead of 3x.
1/4 from Electric, Grass, and Water instead of 1/2.

Now say Rock instead of Dragon...

New resistances:
Normal

New Neutral(was weaknesses):
Flying
Poison

New Neutral 2(was resistances):
Ground
Water
Grass

Changed Weaknesses
Fire is only 2x now.
Steel is now 4x.
Fighting is now 4x.

Actual resistances: Electric 1/2

Rock/Grass/Ice would be a deadly bad defensive typing.
