This poll is now closed.
So, my belief is that Gen V is somewhat of a reboot. I.e. they opted for a fresh new start of Pokemon.
So in this poll, I plan to find similarities between the new Gen V and the original Gen I and ask you guys which is the best. In terms of best, it can be based on anything, appearance, effectiveness in both ingame and competitive or even it's name. You decide.

So, here are some similarities between the two.

- Both are the starting rodent Pokemon.
- Both have large teeth and may be based off rats.

That isn't a correct answer.

Besides, I prefer the Patrat line over the Rattata's.

Watchog literally annoys me more than Golbats, in that training a lower level Pokemon on them is a nightmare, because of their movepool (confusing you, halving your hp, wastes pp with detect, puts you to sleep). Rattata line wins for being less annoying.

Rattata. The original user of F.E.A.R.

Rattata was also pretty decent back in Gen 1. It had great speed (at the time), and got powerful moves like Hyper Fang early. It also evolved into Raticate at level 20, and was able to learn a variety of moves (I remember using my Bubblebeam TM on Raticate in my Red run).

Patrat...meh...I just get the "been there, done that" feel with it. At least Rattata can still do f.e.a.r. sets, while Raticate gets Guts to abuse. I actually like Raticate, as it can still do a couple of interesting things that most other pokemon can't.
