What if a new Pokemon anime was made based on irl principles of competetive play

Just hypothetically speaking.

Face it, the Pokemon anime has sucked for a long while now (imo as soon as they ditched the old voice actors things took a turn for the worst).

What if they gave Ash a rest and made a new Pokemon anime based off of the principals of real life competitive play of Pokemon video games (hell the anime is supposed to be based on the video games anyway right?)

For instance the utilization of tiers, entry hazards (Stealth Rock), niches (some Pokemon would be purely Rapid Spinners, Sweepers, Tanks, Walls, etc. and would be referenced as so when needed). Everything that is typically entailed in competitive play. Even weather teams (swift swm, sandstorm abilities would play a big role in some battles, entire teams on the show could be built around a certain type of weather advantage).

Idk, could be a lot more interesting that what we have now.

In terms of characters, animation, and music the anime promo bit for BW2 could even be the basis.

ugh, it would just be a bunch of teams made up of roughly the same pokemon, with every single team using stealth rock. actually i would still watch it, cant be worse then what we have now.

I do not want to see Ash 2.0 hatching countless eggs, RNGing, and using stealth rock and switching a bajillion times every battle.

Well maybe not exactly like it is in real life but it would be interesting to use some real life principles like

-Tiers
-Entry Hazards
-Niche Pokemon
-Weather Teams

for instance. Obviously endless daycare eggs and watching the main character EV train for 20 episodes wouldn't make for a good show.

Tiers wouldn't have to necessarily be strictly how it is irl either.

If they introduce a new main character they could have his main Pokemon be something mediocre normally but for the sake of the anime try to make it work in upper tiers.

Not basing the current anime on competetive play isn't the main problem. It's not keeping main characters inconsistant and writing the opposition even worse most times. You cannot ***** about Ash when other characters in the anime are written just as crappy.

Because being like the games is totally an auto win button for the anime/manga.<_<

Depends on who direct and animate it. If the Gfaq users do it, of course you'll get 20 episodes of egg hatching or smogon imploding etc because Gfaq users know only so much about a quality anime etc

Like seriously, in the anime they don't have to show us how or who breed, hack, train, grind or whatever their Pokemon. It will just be the battle being more epic and realistic to the game, less thunder armor and horn aiming, that's all. Even if your ideas are meant to be funny, work harder people!

They introduced weather and entry hazards in the anime already close to how the game does it. You're totally not even getting WHY you dislike the anime yourself and ignoring complaints that have been addressed.

Nobody here even remotely hinted that this was the main problem. I'm simply pitching an idea that's off the beaten path at this point...

Although I do agree with you about the writing itself being subpar.

The game is hardly realistic as is, so I don't care if the anime strays from it. It should be consistant in it's logic though. Aim for the Horn had buildup, TA did not, even though all the tools that could have established it were in place. Bird who tanks everything, rat who is special, yet no buildup to that attack whatsoever nor it being used again. Why?
