C/D: Stealth Rock damage should be typeless

It's fine in doubles if you don't get locked into it. Protect, common as it is, can help. Plus, people can usually predict that you can EQ-Protect, so you can throw them off.

Now, EQ'er in the center in triples can be hard to pull off.

SR can hit flyers while Spikes has more potential if you set it up twice or thrice.

Oh, and would making Spikes useless have a negative effect on the metagame?

I find it confusing that things are banned due to becoming 'over-centralizing' yet the entire Singles metagame revolves around these moves. Rocks completely dictate which Pokes are usable and which aren't. It becomes a priority to the point where nearly every team has a dedicated Rocks/Spikes user, Spinner, and or Spin-Blocker. It's been regarded by lots as one, if not the, most important move in the metagame.

....I think it's a bit over-centralizing.

I agree with this. Simply cap the damage at 25%, and there. 50% is excessive, and screws Pokemon over when they already have a debilitating weakness (Rock is a common, good attacking type.

The more I play doubles, the more I realize that things are balanced with doubles in mind, not singles (doubles being the official format, of course). All the things people whine about in singles (stealth rock, weather, even evasion) aren't too hard to counter in doubles. Not saying doubles is perfect, but it's a hell of a lot more strategic and balanced than singles.

So stealth rock is fine the way it is because it's perfectly balanced in official tournaments. If Smogon or whoever wants to ban it from singles, let them, but don't change it because it's a problem only in 6v6 singles.

Stealth rock should do 1/2 damage to Lucario. and 1/16 to Volcarona and Articuno, etc.

Reverse the Stealth rock multipliers and it will be balanced.
