I hope this also applies to EB Games, because Gamestop doesn't seem to exist in Canada, at least where I am.

EB Games = Gamestop, so there's a pretty good chance it will.

Not that it matters to me, because none of the EB Games or Toys'R'Us stores that get these events in Australia are anywhere near me, so I guess I'll have to try to find a trade or hope that they do a Wifi distribution later on like they did with Keldeo.

Most likely. You bring your DS and your edition, turn it on, and then use Secret Gift to receive one per Wireless (not WiFi or IR).
They probably have one one of those distribution carts Nintendo also uses during Pokémon Tour events, which send a specific Poké on 20 channels simultaneously.

EB Games at one point did not, but ever since the Entei/Raikou/Suicune promotions during Gen IV, they have had all of these promotions.

Also, Gamestop locations existed at one point, as they were Gamestops before the company acquired Electronics Boutique - but they have since all been converted to EB Games stores to keep the branding the same across the country.

For the record, even when Gamestop stores did exist, they still didn't get American Gamestop promotions.
