HermanTuttlePosted 3/17/2012 9:21:49 PM | The reasons can be summed up in one sentence: "The PS1 version of Eternal Punishment was already localized." |
benegraziePosted 3/17/2012 10:17:40 PM | So was p3 original Didn't stop FES or P3p Also see Devil Sruvivor. |
HermanTuttle (Topic Creator) Posted 3/17/2012 10:21:55 PM | But Persona 3 was far more recent and popular, and those re-releases were changed much more significantly than EP PSP. |
SaviorGabrielPosted 3/17/2012 10:24:59 PM | Also see Mega Man 1, Mega Man X, Ys I & II, Ys III, Final Fantasy I, II, IV, Final Fantasy Tactics, Lunar, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and any other ports to PSP that were previously ported to other systems in the US. --- "I am defeated, and know it, if I meet any human being from whom I find myself unable to learn anything." --George Herbert Palmer |
HermanTuttle (Topic Creator) Posted 3/17/2012 10:36:11 PM (edited) | But the PSP is a dead system in the West now. Releasing anything new for it is a huge gamble. Atlus has to pick and choose their releases very carefully now, and be careful of how much money they throw at them--remember, the reason we aren't getting full English voices for Growlanser, or the Japanese voices licensed, is because they would put the project over budget.
A lot of people, including myself, would pass on this re-release because they already own the PS1 version. |
Lelouch71Posted 3/17/2012 10:38:52 PM | No need to be a pessimist. They release every single Persona game including IS. Not to mention EP isn't easily available plus it would be a slight downgrade to go from the PSP version of IS to the PS1 version of EP.
Just because some people might not buy the game again, it doesn't new fans of P2 won't. Then there are those of us who love EP and want to play the updated version with a new Tatsuya scenario being included. --- "Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories." |

The PSP wasn't exactly in its prime when Innocent Sin came out either. And the vast majority of Atlus' current fanbase (myself included) don't have the original and would kill to have a more playable version. --- Soji Seta forever. Also Minako. |
HermanTuttle (Topic Creator) Posted 3/17/2012 10:46:33 PM | Well, one thing is certain--if it makes it over, it'll be as a PSN download only. I heard Sony will be discontinuing UMD manufacture outside Japan before the end of the year. |
HurricaneManningPosted 3/17/2012 11:01:00 PM | It's probably going to be out here before the end of the year anyway. --- Suck for Luck watch: SUCCESS BOILER UP! |
GibbeynatorPosted 3/18/2012 6:53:28 AM | This doesn't sound like something Atlus USA would do, since it goes against their entire strategy: Take the quirky Japanese game that will only sell 50,000 copies, print enough to satisfy that fanbase and maybe get some new followers, rinse and repeat. It's what makes them, XSEED, Aksys and NIS America great. --- It is pitch black in here, you are likely to be eaten by a Grue *CHOMP* Well... I warned him... |
