depends on why you're saying this when there are many reviews out.

If you just want to complain about the online drm, than you already know the answer. Otherwise reviews have been overwhelming positive and the people who actually bought the game have overwhelmingly had good things to say about the actual game. Not it's servers.

Did you play SimCity 4? Then you probably won't like this game. I played the beta and after being a long time SimCity 2000-SimCity 4 fan I decided not to buy it. They butchered the formula to make it a more casual and social game. Basically there is no terraforming, no modding, no subways, no connected cities, cities that are small, and a host of other issues that plague the game. And the always online DRM is currently causing a host of issues not letting people play the game or even download it. I don't see many of the problems going away anytime soon because it's an always online game (singleplayer and multiplayer) that requires your Internet connection as well as their servers to be stable. Also many reviews are actually lower than expected. IGN's in-progress review states that the server issues are frustrating. Polygon even lowered their score because of the launch issues and server stability. And if you go to Amazon the majority of the user reviews (from those that actually bought the game) are 1 star.

It's the best SimCity to date even with the fairly small city tiles, however the server issues are pissing off basically everyone who's played the game.

Note that the User Review score on that site, has the game rated 2.5. I'm sure this will be written off as "trolls and haters", but it's not rated 2.5 without good reason.

If you consider a good reason to be a bunch of trolls who likely don't have the game, that have nothing better to do with their lives than to rate a game a zero for having DRM.

And yet even the Amazon reviews (even by the verified purchases) are overwhelmingly 1 star. I wonder why?

I am ignoring two trolls in this topic according to GameFaqs. So be aware they are vocal and active.

My honest answer to your honest question is if you like the other Sim Cities you will like this one. Try out a demo if you can, though I am not sure if there is one available. Watch videos, etc. There have been changes in the series that you should make sure you are ok with.

Though I will say this launch has been a mess so if you are sensitive about that you may want to wait a week or so for it to sort itself out.
