Water Table Replenishment?

#1markcsiiPosted 3/7/2013 2:40:21 PM
My water pumping facility has drained most of the water table as I'm nearing 150k residents.

Anyway to replenish it?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought you could get water from other cities in your region as a quick fix, but this of course is assuming you are playing single player. As far as eventual replenishment, I have not run out of water yet.

They say it does replenish slowly over time from rainwater, but youll have to build water pumps elsewhere or buy from another city in the meantime.

I havn't been able to personally try it yet but the common solution I see is running a sewage outflow pipe to a water treatment plant and putting a pump near the plant. Maybe you don't need the pipe I forgot, but basically the plant treats sewage and adds it to the ground water which the pump pulls out for drinking water. It creates a constantly renewing water supply.

That's what I've been doing and so far so good, just passed 300k residents and still going strong.

Now imagine if you had a 16 city region and everyone was pumping water from the start. Eventually everyone would run out of water at the same time and be screwed.

Really, SimCity would have made a great single player game with the region stuff, just playing with yourself and making sure you stagger each new city's creation to prevent losing all your resources at the same time.

This sounds like something they should've made a sewage treatment plant do on its own - sewage goes in, clean water goes out.

as i was playing a more industrial city, all of a sudden everything turned on and i could buy power, trade workers and students, etc

my buddy has a city in the region and everything got much nicer when we could use city hall upgrade unlocks right away

It is replenished slowly by rain water. I'm guessing if you are next to a river that might help also.
