So, who got NFS:MW as their free game?

Thought I'd ask here since the NFS:MW boards here are mainly dead. I got it as my free game and am feeling kind of bummed about it (even though it's free). Bought a cheap ps3 style PC controller for it (since steering with the keyboard would have to suck), and for some reason the game thinks the D-Pad and LS are the same, and the RS and the face buttons are the same. I dunno if this a problem with the game or a setup issue on my side. I just don't have enough input buttons to set up everything that needs to be set-up on the controller. Also, is there a way to drive that doesn't involve auguring right into a wall every 2 seconds? I find the steering is like driving on ice.

Never played the game, but I'm almost certain there are upgrades for tires and handling and things like that, which you unlock by playing. As for the key mapping, I'm not sure if the game allows it, but there is software that will let you map gamepad buttons as keyboard keys so you could do that as a last resort.

My Documents/Criterion Games/NFS:MW

Open config file and set "Lock To 30" to true.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4lfqq0DpUo-ZkRSajJjUVdLUTg/edit

Drop those files into your instal folder.

Start game and when the TOCAEDIT box opens select "Use Camera Control" and "Auto Enable". You can also select "Disable Crash Cam" if you want.

Once in game use "1" on the numberpad to select the view you want.

^ I use that view.

I tried playing with the views they give you and they just aren't very good. Bumper cam is too low and chase cam is crap. Locking your framerate to 30 reduces the input lag and using the new hood view makes driving so much easier. I suggest getting a 360 wired controller. I use a Mad Catz 360 controller and it works perfectly.

So, what does all these files do exactly?

I have a wired 360 controller, but it never works when I plug it into my PC.

Get a wired 360 controller or an actual ps3 controller and use the motionjoy driver.

The files give you more camera views and allows you to adjust steering sensitivity and I believe it lets you use a wheel, something the vanilla version of the game doesn't. The game is a lot more playable after using this.

I got the game. The loading when you want to just restart a race is kind of annoying. However, I do like the game. The graphics are great. The collision most of the time seems correct.

I got it too. If anybody wants to race or just have another name on autolog, add me up. Origin ID is the same as this one.
