How many trade ports / depots do you need, and how many processor/ tv factories do you need? I have seen videos that have like 7 processor factories, but doesn't explain how it works, or how many trade ports you need. Please do not link me to a 25 part series video list where each video is 20 min long

This is not rocket science and he already laid out exactly how to get started. Asking for much more we might as well play the game for you.

Just get started and experiment. Learning on your own is half the fun.

This pisses me off, i have been experimenting on sandbox. I am on this board to find ideas that someone else may have found. If you are not going to help, do not post.

They did help. They told you what to build. Now go do it instead of whining to the people that answered your question. It doesnt matter how many of each building you make, you're going to make millions anyway.

Also, if that's the way you talk to people, no one is going to want to help you anyway.

if your trade port becomes full... build another one
if that one becomes full... i dont know, this is a tough one...

I started with 1 recycling plant first, only gathering alloy and plastic. Have a trade depot to store all those. Built a processor factory and slowly added on. Export those. Built a 2nd factory and export more processors.

Should have gotten the electronic and trade HQ by now. Put down the TV/Computer factory. Stop exporting processors.

Put down a trade port with at least a train stop, train and ship if possible. Make sure all your factories are near the port. Export only TVs/Computers.

In a few hours my city may be -$30,000/hour, but I'm making a ton more... Sitting at 35 million at the moment.

Petroleum and Mining are great for getting started but it really feels to me like they are just setting you up to progress to electronics which always comes out on top (at least for now until trade price fluctuation is actually enabled). Tourism is nice but seems like other than scheduling your shows every day and plopping down 3 landmarks there isn't much to do... and you have to be prepared for a ton of traffic (also very expensive to get into, even more so than electronics).

Gambling is the most interesting alternative but it has scaling problems where it works alright with the smaller casinos but since the people ten to flood in at certain times of the day and be absent others it can be really hard to maintain a profit with such high hourly maintenance costs on the later casinos. At the very least you have to pop down the marquee/signs that draw in people but you will likely need more people coming in than the marquees alone can draw to keep all of your casinos profitable. I find that if I build 4 sleek casinos I will have 3 in the green and 1 in the red as the 4 of them have enough draw to make 3 of them profitable. Also, day to day the profit can swing wildly due to traffic, bugs, or whatever else slows down tourists as some days I see 160k profits and others i get negatives (peaking at -100k during a traffic jam caused by out of town buses getting stuck).

If I ever make another gambling city I will want to try getting lodging division in the hope that maybe... just maybe I can get more consistant number. I picked entertainment division for my first (and only) casino hq upgrade for the modules to draw in tourists cause I did not realize elegant casino modules like roulette house don't actually work. Exclusive club might work but it just seems that it never draws in enough to pay for itself so high/medium wealth rooms on lower casinos may be the best bet at this point.

Does anyone else build stadiums / entertainment centres?

Each region I'm in, I use a city with heaps of public transport and hold shows at stadiums/ entertainment centres as a cash cow. I use the 300-400k you can easily make every 24hours to fund the rest of the region and build the Greats. Can also chuck in some other tourist attractions to turn over a bit of steady cash.

I've not had much luck with mining and refining, I'm building a city full of gambling.. but seems to be slow to get off the ground.

400k per 24 hours really isnt very good profit compared to electronics. You want to fund a region, go Electronics and you can throw millions at your other cities.

it depends on the location of your buildings and trade port. i have 8 processor factories 4 on each side of the map. 1 major trade port import/export for one side (with rail) and the other just import. I average 4-5 mill (thats with one garbage dump and 2 recycling-one only plastic the other only alloy)

hope this helps
