Game isn't Loading?

#1Deception613Posted 5/11/2013 5:18:29 PM
I've seen this problem among other users when the game FIRST come out, but nothing recently. This is what it is doing, so maybe someone on here can help me. Origin loads up, I can click on the game and select play and it will attempt to start up, but then the Play button grays out for about 30 seconds. The game does not load, and then the button un-grays and I can click on it again.

I am not sure what the problem is, but EA hasn't given me an answer all day and the SimCity website has been NO help at all. Ca someone please help?

A. If you submitted a ticket, you're likely to not get an answer the same day, especially on a Saturday.

B. You can always try calling them or live chat.

Don't complain about your lack of patience on here and then expect people to help you.

EA customer service is crap, don't expect much help from them. Don't expect much help from EA shills like Poncho either.
They rather act like it's your fault and the game is fine then actually help solve an issue. Since that would mean acknowledging those issues exist.

I managed to find some info about the issue, might help you out:

http://answers.ea.com/t5/Crashes/SimCity-not-opening/m-p/608540

Reinstall Origin:

slashwrist86: Without uninstalling, quit Origin and reinstall Origin to the same directory it is already installed at and try again to play.

delamay: I reinstalled Origins to the saqme directory and it fixed my problem

Disable Origin in-game

zzinged: I had a problem where I could click the play button, but nothing would come up. Simcity.exe would appear as a running task but there would be no window for it. I solved this problem by DISABLING Origin in-game.

rsheppick: in Origin, click Origin then Application Settings, In Game, Uncleck "Enable Origin In Game". I was finally able to play the game after trying for 9 hours.

Run the game in compatibility mode

schaefjw: Was having the same problem with Windows 8x64.
What worked for me:
- Goto C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\SimCity\SimCity
- Right click SimCity.exe and select Properties.
- Select Compatibility tab, check 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' and select Windows 7.

mrbip0lar: I then used Windows Compatibility mode and set it to Win XP...and it mysteriously started to work. I can play the game (going through the tutorial now).

Additional troubleshooting steps:

Turn off Video Overlays such as Origin In-Game, Precision X, MSI Afterburner, Fraps
Turn off Bing Desktop, Spotify
Turn off second monitor
Turn off SLI
Switch to Windowed Mode (Press Alt+Enter)
Reinstall GPU Drivers
Run Windows Update and install any available important Updates

I ended up uninstalling the game itself and just reinstalling it. I lost my Region though, but I believe that isn't the result of having to uninstall and reinstall.

Your region should still exist. Make sure that you are on the same server you were on before the reinstall.

Oh yes. Expecting same day replies from customer service is standard. I can't think of a single company that would give you same day service in the form of an email.

Go ahead, call me a shill. At least I'm not an arrogant toad who throws that word around every time somebody says something rational. I would have said that had he asked this on any other board for any other game.

On a side note, I've only used EA support once, and it was to request all my DLC licenses be transferred from one account to another. They replied a day layer and did as I asked. Funny, sure sounds like crap customer service to me!

Nah, you're not a shill. Shills that EA employs are a lot more obvious. The Chris "Avanost" Hoban kind of obvious ;)

How is this rational?

"Don't complain about your lack of patience on here and then expect people to help you."

It doesn't help the poster, the only thing it does is accusing him and blaming him for an issue with EA's game.

Yeah, anecdotal evidence with no way to back it up is always useful in when trying to defend your point.

EA customer service is crap:

I apologize, in my original post i sounded like I had reported my problem to EA the same day as I posted. I had actually reported to the problem to them on the 8th and I still hadn't heard anything by the 11th.

Anyone that pays $60 for a game, expects the customer service to at least be prompt with some type of Answer, even if it is a courtesy "We will look over your problem when time allows" sort of thing like other automatic emails.

Anyways- I wasn't complaining of my lack of patience, I was looking for Advice on what to do, in case someone else on here had that happen and they happen to have fixed it. Everything I had found regarding the problem was back near launch, so I assumed it was something that was fixed in a minor patch.

I apologize for any confusion.
