I have to give this game up. It's just FUBAR

#1Master of HatePosted 7/15/2013 1:39:42 PM
It seems like every time I pick this game up, it's just some other agitating factor.

First it was the germs.
Then it was the garbage protests, despite there being no garbage around.
Next came the stupidity with mass transit and traffic.
Follow that up with the "Your city needs more workers!" message always, despite having 80% residential minimum at all times.

But for me, the final straw has to be the natural disasters. I finally, despite all this game's terrible nonsense, bugs, glitches, and poor mechanics, got a city up to 130,000. And then, the natural disasters begin, and completely desecrate everything.

First an earthquake destroys all my casinos; my sole source of income.
Then a garbage monster destroys my Solar farm + 5 panels.
Then a tornado destroys my newly purchased (literally, within 45 seconds of placing it) hospital.

The hell with this trash. There's no counters to the disasters, no prevention possibility, just a notification of "Hey, your city is about to be annihilated, and there's nothing you can do about! Congratulations!"

**** this game.

First it was the germs.

This is because of ground pollution, you need to plant trees around your industrial buildings, if theyre low tech, youll probably have to bulldoze them and rotate areas for industrial buildings. Also possibly due to using Sewage Outflow Pipes.
Easiest fix is to build a Sewage Treatment Plant and either build a University, or just destroy all your industrial buildings and replace them with Specialty buildings (like gambling houses)

Probably a bug, my condolences

Next came the stupidity with mass transit and traffic.

Traffic seems to be fixed, with 400000 population my city is running smoothly.
The most common problem I find people make is they put intersections too close to eachother

Read the numbers in your population tab, from your previous thread, you had WAY too much industrial zoned. Casinos (especially Casino HQ) take a LOT of workers, so do all your services and utilities

It seems like you are bad at it and blame the game for being bad at it instead of trying to get better.

The game is broken. You might be able to work around it somewhat but that doesn't change the fact that mechanics are simply not working realistically or reasonably.

But at least there are blimps now.

You're still here collecting those checks from EA and attacking anyone who has issues with the game I see.

He's The Last White Knight. Literally. Everyone else saw this game for the embarrassment it is and moved on, including the people who made it.

The game is not good. I don't pretend it is great and never did. Its also not as bad as a lot of people pretend it is.

In this topic TC is bad at a bad game and complains about the game when really the problem is him.

Two trolls then come in and attack me for absolutely nothing...

Shadow, at least I'm still getting paid to be here. Why are you still here?

I mostly agree with this, but a lot of people are just angry with how horrid the game was at launch, how long its taken them to fix things and that everything still isnt fixed, which is understandable.

I dont really understand why people that arent playing this game are still posting on this board though

one last thing is that I think its just stupid for people that dont understand certain parts of the game to automatically blame nonexistent bugs (like that guy that complained that he had high wealth residential demand when he had 0 high wealth residential sims, duuuuurrrrrrr)

The fact that the traffic *ALWAYS* breaks the game at around 80,000 population is legitimately disgusting.

I'm sorry that 12 Streetcars and 48 Buses and Avenues aren't enough for the stupid A.I. to successfully navigate. I can't do any more to alleviate the traffic. It simply isn't possible. How many park and rides does a city need?

And it's infuriating to sit and watch my city getting robbed and burned down because the traffic management is too stupid to do anything. My trucks just get stuck in these endless, mile-long jams while buildings burn down. Which, honestly, wouldn't be a problem, if the fire helipad actually worked. But it doesn't.

If that guy is actually getting paid for his ignorant posts, than all he does is exterminate what little dying fans are left for this game. No one would want to be on his side.

False, youre likely making far too many intersections, far too close to eachother, because thats a fairly small population.
Even at launch it took about 120000 before traffic started breaking my cities (and it was much worse then)

Zero. Ive only ever built 1 of those for the sake of it
My cities only have 1 bus terminal and 1 streetcar depot and that works perfectly fine

I reiterate that you need to build your intersections farther apart, especially on the main avenue that connects your city, try to make a distance of at least 2 high density buildings before you make another intersection
Obviously every plot of land is different, but for me (with my boring grid designs) in general I have an avenue connecting to the main road and make an avenue that goes around the center of the city, then 2 more avenues going through the center (if its a flat plot of land, otherwise its just that one avenue going around the center if theres water or its a mountainous area)
Also, try to keep buildings off of the main avenues and more on the side roads, this will keep traffic moving off of your main traffic arteries.
